Liverpool transfers: Ezequiel Lavezzi’s agent coy on talk of Napoli return
Ezequiel Lavezzi isn't guaranteed to rejoin Napoli in the summer, says the PSG foward's agent
Ezequiel Lavezzi is not guaranteed to seal a return to former employers Napoli in the summer, says the Liverpool target’s agent.
The Argentina international has fallen down the pecking order at Paris Saint-Germain, prompting talk of a move away from Parc des Princes.
Lavezzi has scored four goals and has made one assists in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season, although the forward has racked up just 880 first-team minutes.
The 29-year-old was linked with a switch to Liverpool in January but a move failed to materialise, whilst Napoli are reportedly interested in bringing the striker back to Serie A.
However, Lavezzi’s agent Alejandro Mazzoni has moved to play down reports of an imminent agreement with the Coppa Italia holders.
“Lavezzi has said nothing new,” Mazzoni told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“He always said that if he had the opportunity to return to Italy, Napoli would be his first choice. But we must see if Napoli are interested or not.
“I also want to make it clear that we are not trying to get him to leave PSG at all costs.
“Lavezzi has expressed his thoughts, he likes Italy and especially Napoli, and if he returns to Italy, the city where he spent several years would obviously be his priority. But that does not depend just on him.
“Much depends on the will of [Napoli] president [Aurelio] De Laurentiis. Lavezzi is a professional and in football, weddings always need two participants.”
Lavezzi rose to prominence in European football after the South American scored 38 goals in 156 Serie A appearances.
The former San Lorenzo man joined cash-rich PSG in a reported £22m deal from Napoli in the summer of 2012.
