Liverpool transfers: Ings should ignore La Liga interest, says ex-Claret
Robbie Blake believes Danny Ings should wait for a move to Liverpool or Spurs
Robbie Blake says Danny Ings should turn down a move to Spain and hold out for a switch to a top Premier League club.
Ings has enjoyed a fine debut season in England’s top division, notching nine goals and four assists in 22 Premier League games.
The form hasn’t gone unnoticed, and despite Burnley boss Sean Dyche managing to keep him despite January interest, his stay in Lancashire is not expected to last past this summer.
The 22-year-old has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham but Blake was reported to have flown to Spain to meet with David Moyes ahead of a proposed move to Real Sociedad.
“It would be a shame if he did go to Real Sociedad in my opinion because it wouldn’t further his carrer,” Blake told talkSPORT.
“He needs to move on and go to a top team in the Premier League this summer, a club like Liverpool or Tottenham.”
Until then, Ings will have other priorities as Burnley find themselves in 19th, deep in a relegation scrap, with a visit to Chelsea in the horizon.
Their biggest hope lies in Ings, who has been a revelation at this level, despite many doubters before the start of the season.
“Danny Ings was on fire last season in the Championship and people were wondering whether he could do it in the Premier League,” Blake added.
“He’s proved that he is a top class player at this level and he scores all sorts of goals.”
