Undoubtedly, the 30-year-old’s trademark skinhead “haircut” has made the centre-half even more of an intimidating prospect for opposition strikers.
Although Liverpool and Premier League fans haven’t witnessed Skrtel in a Red shirt sporting luscious locks, he appeared to be the proud owner of a mullet back in the day.
Skrtel, who was named man of the match after Liveprool’s 2-0 win at Southampton on Sunday, uploaded a photo from a Zenit St Petersburg game, highlighting his “long hair”.
Skrtel wrote: “Back to 2006…good memories! @zenit_spb #blacktiempos#gloves#longhair#poloneck thinking about going back to long hair?!”
The Liverpool defender has been one of Brendan Rodgers’ most-consistent performers this season, forming a solid centre-half partnership with Mamadou Sakho and Emre Can in recent weeks.
Skrtel, who was linked with a move to Napoli last season, has scored 17 goals in 280 appearances in all competitions following his £7m switch to Anfield from Russian side Zenit in 2008.
