Man United boss Van Gaal: Why I’m so happy Falcao scored
Louis van Gaal was thrilled to see Radamel Falcao get on the score-sheet for Manchester United on Saturday
Louis van Gaal revealed his delight at seeing Radamel Falcao return to goal-scoring form on Saturday as Manchester United beat Leicester City 3-1 at Old Trafford.
The Colombia forward scored his fourth goal for the Red Devils since his summer move to Old Trafford to help United move up to third place in the Premier League table.
And on a day when Robin van Persie also found the net, Van Gaal revealed his delight at seeing Falcao net his first goal of the year.
“I’m more happy that Falcao scored because I think Robin has scored enough goals already,” Van Gaal told MUTV.
“Falcao needs that goal more than Robin. But, after all, it’s fantastic they scored – beautiful goals I think with very quick transition for the goal by Falcao, with Robin also having a big part in it, so I’m very happy.”
Van Persie’s opener against City moved him to the top of the goal-scoring charts at Old Trafford this season, with nine strikes to his name.
United’s next game is the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Cambridge United at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils are now 10 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea after the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Saturday evening.
