Man United target Marco Reus signs new Borussia Dortmund contract

Marco Reus signs a new contract with Borussia Dortmund to keep him at the club until 2019

Marco Reus has disappointed Manchester United by signing a new contract to keep him at Borussia Dortmund until 2019.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Dortmund in recent months due to a release clause in his old deal that meant he could have left the Bundesliga club in the summer.

However, Reus has now put pen to paper on a new contract with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Dortmund confirmed the news via their official Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon.

Reus, who missed last summer’s World Cup in Brazil due to injury, had been heavily linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs, including United, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Reus moved to Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012 and was named the German club’s player of the year last season.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has scored four goals and made two assists in 10 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund this season.
