Man United transfers: David De Gea’s agent discusses Real Madrid link
Jorge Mendes says that David De Gea is happy at Manchester United despite reports linking him with Real Madrid
David De Gea’s agent says that he does not expect the Manchester United goalkeeper to join Real Madrid any time soon.
The shot-stopper has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Old Trafford in recent months, with the Spaniard having just 17 months left on his contract with the Red Devils.
The speculation surrounding De Gea’s future only intensified following United’s signing of free agent Victor Valdes on an 18-month contract last month.

However, the Spaniard’s agent Jorge Mendes insists that his client is happy at the Premier League club.
“He has one year left on his contract and I think that he will stay in Manchester,” Mendes is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
“The player will decide, but he’s happy there, at the moment.”
Mendes’ comments come after Spanish football expert Guillem Balague said that De Gea could be set to leave Old Trafford in the near future – even if he does pen a new deal with United.
“He is negotiating a new deal with Manchester United and that seems to be the priority now,” Balague told Sky Sports.
“So I think he will sign a new contract and become the best-paid goalkeeper in the world, ahead of [Madrid’s Iker] Casillas perhaps.
“But that does not mean he will stay at Manchester United though, because it is quite clear that both Valdes and De Gea’s finish their contracts at the same time in a year and a half.
“And it is very clear that Real Madrid want De Gea. Now the problem is that Real Madrid will have to convince Manchester United to sell, and that is the second part of the story.”
De Gea has been one of the Premier League’s best shot-stoppers this season and has made 23 top-flight appearances for Louis van Gaal’s side so far this term.
