Man United’s Angel di Maria admits his English is ‘very bad’
Angel di Maria admits that he is struggling to pick up the English language since his move to Manchester United
Angel di Maria has conceded that he has been struggling to get to grips with English since his transfer to Manchester United from Real Madrid.
The Argentina international joined the Red Devils in a club-record £60m deal from Real Madrid last summer and has been a regular fixture in Louis van Gaal’s first-team.
He has scored three goals and made six assists in 16 Premier League games for the Red Devils as they look to secure a top-four finish.
But despite having adapted fairly well on the pitch, Di Maria concedes that his knowledge of the English language is progressing a little slower, despite having been taking classes.
Asked how is progressing with the English language, Di Maria told Fifa’s website: “More like regressing! (laughs).
“It’s very bad. [I’ve learned] very little and only understand a small bit.
“That said, I’m trying to learn it bit by bit and I’m taking classes. Hopefully I’ll pick it up quickly.”
Di Maria will be expected to feature when Manchester United host Burnley at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
