Marcos Rojo heaps praise on Man United’s ‘humble and serious’ Angel di Maria
Marcos Rojo singles out Angel di Maria for special praise ahead of Manchester United's trip to Preston North End
Marcos Rojo has singled out Angel di Maria for special praise ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Preston North End in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Monday night.
Di Maria turned 27 on Saturday and is clearly a popular figure amongst his team-mates at Old Trafford.
The Argentina international has scored three goals and made seven assists in 17 Premier League games for Louis van Gaal’s men this season.
He is very humble, but very serious when it’s time to work
And fellow compatriot Rojo was gushing with praise for the former Real Madrid star ahead of United’s FA Cup test.
“I first met Angel with Argentina’s national team,” Rojo said in an interview with United’s website.
2He was always a cool guy. We’ve got along well since the first time we met.
“He is young and so am I, so I’ve always had a good relationship with him. And here at United we are the only Argentinians, so we are almost always together. We’re always talking, or sharing a mate tea [a type of tea in Argentina] or whatever.
“He is a great person. He is very humble, but very serious when it’s time to work. He is a great father, too – I think he shows that he loves his family a lot. He is a great person and an excellent professional.”
Rojo, 24, has been a regular fixture in the United first-team following his summer transfer to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon.
He has scored one goal in 16 games for the Red Devils and has started 14 Premier League games for Van Gaal’s men.
United take on Preston on Monday before a Premier League clash with Swansea City next weekend.
