Mourinho delivers latest Chelsea injury update ahead of Villa clash
Jose Mourinho confirms Filipe Luis is still suffering from a calf injury
Jose Mourinho has revealed that Filipe Luis won’t feature against Aston Villa due to injury.
The Brazil international is set to miss the trip to Villa Park due to a calf problem, but Cesar Azpilicueta is available to provide cover at left-back.
Chelsea striker Diego Costa is still serving his three-game ban for stamping on Liverpool defender Emre Can and won’t feature on Saturday.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference on Friday, Mourinho delivered his latest injury update ahead of the west London side’s clash against Villa.
“Filipe is injured. A player is suspended,” Mourinho said.
Spain international Cesc Fabregas missed Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge last weekend after the midfielder picked up a hamstring problem against Liverpool in the League Cup.
Mourinho, who was remaining particularly tight-lipped during Friday’s media conference at Cobham, indirectly confirmed that Fabregas is available for selection.
Pressed to clarify the 27-year-old’s fitness status, Mourinho begrudgingly replied: “I told you, the player who is suspended is suspended. Everybody is fit.”
Fabregas has scored two goals and has made 15 assists in 21 Premier League appearances this season.
