New Balance to become Liverpool’s kit supplier from 2015-16
The Boston-based footwear firm will take over from Warrior as the Merseyside club's kit supplier from next season
New Balance has announced a record deal to become Liverpool’s official kit supplier.
The Boston-based footwear firm, which is the parent company of current supplier Warrior, will produce the Merseyside outfit’s strips and training gear from the 2015-16 season.
“We are thrilled to announce this sponsorship of one of the world’s leading sportswear brands, which is a record-breaking deal for the club,” said Liverpool’s chief commercial officer Billy Hogan.
“Like Liverpool FC, New Balance has over 100 years of heritage and a global footprint. Not only are they well known for their technical innovation across a range of sports but they also have a presence in many countries across the world, which will all feature LFC kit. We are very excited about joining forces with them.”
New Balance’s sponsorship with Liverpool continues the ongoing relationship with Fenway Sports Group. The sportswear manufacturer also has a long-standing relationship with the Boston Red Sox and has previously been involved with Roush Fenway, both owned by FSG.
General manager of New Balance Football, Richard Wright, said: “Liverpool FC is one of the most successful and decorated clubs in world football and we’re delighted to partner with the club.
“The sponsorship represents an important step for New Balance launching into football and reflects the global growth ambitions of the brand. Over the course of the contract New Balance will bring innovation and world class product to Liverpool FC and its global fan base.”
Warrior will continue to deliver products in performance sports including lacrosse and ice hockey.
