Jack WIlshere pays tribute to Steven Gerrard after the midfielder makes his 100th Liverpool appearance
Jack Wilshere has taken to social media to pay tribute to Steven Gerrard after the former England captain made his 700th appearance for Liverpool this week.
The 34-year-old midfielder reached the landmark when he played the full 90 minutes as Liverpool beat Bolton Wanderers 2-1 in Wednesday night’s FA Cup fourth-round replay.
And Wilshere, who played with Gerrard for England at last summer’s World Cup, used his Instagram account to salute his former national team-mate’s achievement.
The Arsenal midfielder uploaded the photo above onto his Instagram account on Thursday afternoon and wrote: “#TBT to the World Cup and congratulations to the Role Model @stevengerrard on his 700th appearance for Liverpool! Unbelievable! #Legend #Stillgoingstrong.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger revealed on Thursday that Wilshere is progressing well in his recovery from ankle surgery and is set to return to full training with the Gunners next week.
The 23-year-old has been out of action since suffering ankle ligament damage in the 2-1 defeat by Manchester United at Emirates Stadium back in November and going under the knife shortly after.
