Jack Wilshere took to social media on Thursday afternoon to upload a photo of himself as a child as the Arsenal midfielder did his best to forget Wednesday’s Champions League defeat by Monaco.

Wilshere was rested as Arsene Wenger’s men slumped to a surprise 3-1 loss to the Ligue 1 side at Emirates Stadium to leave their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals in tatters.

The England international uploaded the photo above onto his Instagram account on Thursday afternoon and wrote: “#TBT wasn’t I cute!?”

Wilshere could make his return to action this weekend when Arsenal host Everton at Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The midfielder has not featured for the Gunners since late November after sustaining an ankle injury against Manchester United and requiring surgery.

The Gunners moved up to third place in the Premier League table last weekend thanks to their 2-1 win at Crystal Palace. Wilshere was an unused substitute at Selhurst Park.
