John Terry hails Frank Lampard as Chelsea most consistent player ever
John Terry has paid tribute to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard after a 1-1 draw with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
The England centurion made his return to west London on Saturday as City midfielder Silva equalised on the stroke of half-time just four minutes after Loic Remy’s opener.
Lampard, who scored against the Blues at The Etihad earlier this season, replaced Fernando with 13 minutes remaining, but the former England international couldn’t find a winner.
Chelsea captain Terry took to Instagram after the stalemate, expressing his delight that the home supporters gave their record goal scorer a fitting reception at The Bridge.
Terry wrote: “A good point after yesterday’s game which leaves us top and 5 points clear of Manchester City.
“Lamps is a proper Chelsea LEGEND and I’m so pleased he got a great send off after the game because I know how much Chelsea means to him.
“Lamps won everything with us and in my opinion the best and most consistent player ever. Love Ya mate”
The 36-year-old, who is set to join Major League Soccer outfit New York City at the end of the season, has scored five goals in 17 Premier League appearances this season.
Lampard won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Europa League, four FA Cups and two League Cups during a decorated 13-year Blues career.
