Cesar Azpilicueta hopes Andre Schurrle's new adventure goes well
Cesar Azpilicueta has paid tribute to Andre Schurrle after the Chelsea midfielder joined Wolfsburg on transfer deadline day.
The German midfielder put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half year contract to keep him at the Bundesliga side until June 2019 after Wolfsburg agreed a £23m fee with Chelsea.
The 24-year-old was previously linked with a switch to Arsenal and Liverpool in the January transfer window after struggling to secure a regular starting spot under manager Jose Mourinho.
Spain international Azpilicueta was clearly sad to see the World Cup winner leave Stamford Bridge as the defender posted a montage of photos in tribute to their Blues friendship.
Azpilicueta posted: “Good luck my friend @andreschuerrle on your new adventure with Wolfsburg Buena suerte amigo! #AllthebestAndre”
Schurrle, who suffered with a virus at the start of this season, made just nine starts for Chelsea in all competitions this season but still managed four goals for the Blues.
The Germany star joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen for £18m back in June 2013, scoring 14 goals for the west London side.
