John Terry pays tribute to Branislav Ivanovic and the Chelsea fans after 1-1 draw at PSG
John Terry was quick to take to social media to praise Branislav Ivanovic after Chelsea returned to London after a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain.
Blues right-back Ivanovic broke the deadlock in the 36th minute when the Serb guided his header past Salvatore Sirigu following Gary Cahill’s clever flick.
But the west Londoners were pegged back after Edinson Cavani nodded past Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois nine minutes into the second half.
Terry praised Ivanovic for his contribution and also paid tribute to the travelling Chelsea fans via a post on his Instagram account.
The Chelsea captain uploaded the photo above on Tuesday night and wrote: “Another great and important goal from #IVA tonight away to PSG, now back to the Bridge for the 2nd leg.
“Thanks for the great away support tonight, all have a safe journey home.”
Chelsea’s next game is a home clash with Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues, who won the Champions League at Allianz Arena in 2012, welcomes PSG to Stamford Bridge for the return leg on 11 March.
