Photo: Liverpool defender shows Martin Skrtel how to ‘rugby tackle’
Mamadou Sakho appears to be getting confused between football and rugby union
Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel have played a big part in Liverpool’s recent improvement at the back, but the France international appears to be taking matters a step too far.
Sakho, alongside Emre Can and Skrtel, has helped Liverpool keep a clean sheet in three of their last four Premier League games, with Spurs the only side to beat Simon Mignolet during that run.
Liverpool are set to face Premier League side Crystal Palace in the FA Cup fifth round at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening, but Sakho looks to have one eye on events at Aviva Stadium in the Six Nations.
France make the trip to the reigning Grand Slam champions on Saturday, looking to build upon their victory over Scotland on the opening weekend of the competition.
Slovakia defender Skrtel posted a photo of Sakho at full stretch at the feet of his defensive partner during a training session at Melwood.
Skrtel added a hilarious caption for the photo: “Mama @mamadousakho3 tries to show me how to tackle players in rugby style”
Sakho joined Liverpool in a £20m deal from Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.
