Wayne Rooney has paid tribute to Anderson and Darren Fletcher after the midfield pair left Manchester United earlier this week.

The Scotland international sealed a free transfer to Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion side, penning a four-year deal with the Baggies on transfer deadline day.

Anderson, meanwhile, completed a return to Brazil after the 26-year-old joined Internacional, ending an eight-year affiliation with the Old Trafford outfit.

United captain Rooney took to Instagram on Wednesday morning after the Red Devils’ 3-0 victory over Cambridge United in the FA Cup fourth-round replay.

Rooney posted the above collage of photos along with the following caption: “Good win last night and looking forward to the next round against Preston.

“Just wanted to to take this opportunity to wish both Darren Fletcher and Anderson good luck in the next stage of their careers. Great lads and it was a pleasure to play with them both!”

Fletcher, 31, has scored 24 goals in 342 appearances for United in all competitions following his debut in the 2002-03 campaign.

Brazil international Anderson played 105 Premier League games after he was signed in a £20m deal from Portuguese outfit Porto in 2007.

United signed Victor Valdes on a free transfer in the January window.
