Ander Herrera looks forward to Manchester United's FA Cup tie at Preston North End on Monday
Ander Herrera has hailed an “important” three points in the race for a top-four finish after Manchester United were 3-1 winners at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Chris Smalling broke the deadlock within minutes of his introduction after his header beat Burnley goalkeeper Anthony Heaton, but Clarets striker Danny Ings had the visitors level in the 12 minute.
However, the United centre-half scored his second of the night on the stroke of half-time before Robin van Persie converted a late penalty to put the Red Devils in control against Sean Dyche’s plucky side.
Herrera was a 39th-minute substitute for Netherlands international Daley Blind after the midfielder suffered a facial injury, and the Spaniard was delighted with United’s victory.
Herrera posted the above photo and wrote on Instagram: “”
The Spanish midfielder hasn’t started a game for the 20-time English champions since a 2-0 victory over Yeovil in the FA Cup third round.
Herrera has scored two goals and has made three assists in 13 Premier League games this season.
