Wayne Rooney may come across as more of a Denzel Washington or Chris Penn fan, but the Manchester United captain appears to have a soft spot for Peppa Pig.

The 29-year-old Red Devils forward has been having a miserable time on the pitch in 2015, scoring one goal in his last 10 appearances in all competitions.

But the England international has found the perfect remedy for forgetting his club football woes, enjoying a trip to the cinema to see Britain’s favourite animated pig in action.

Rooney posted the above photo and wrote on Instagram: “Good to have my little mates back from holiday. Trip to the cinema to see Peppa Pig!”

Perhaps Rooney could guest star in the children’s show and follow in the footsteps of former Wimbledon captain Vinnie Jones and Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf, who have both made the transition from footballer to Hollywood star.

After all, the Red Devils captain has shown his versatility in terms of taking up new roles this season, dropping into a midfield position in recent weeks, prompting a mixed reaction from pundits and supporters.
