Steven Gerrard speaks of his pride after making his 700th Liverpool appearance
Steven Gerrard has thanked Brendan Rodgers for all his help after the Liverpool captain made his 700th Reds appearance on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old helped the Merseyside outfit to come from behind and seal a 2-1 win against Bolton Wanderers at Macron Stadium in the FA Cup fourth-round replay.
Liverpool set up a fifth-round meeting with Crystal Palace on 14 February as the Reds edged closer to giving one of their greatest-ever players the perfect send off in the FA Cup final on his birthday, 31 May.
Gerrard joins Jamie Carragher (737) and Ian Callaghan (857) in Liverpool’s 700 club, and the England centurion spoke of his pride at the milestone on Instagram following his side’s last-gap win.
Gerrard posted the above photo and wrote: “Proud milestone I hit tonight .#700
“Thanks to all my teammates present and past . Also to the best supporters in the world who have shared this journey with me.
“Also a special mention to Brendan and the previous managers who have and continue to help my game . #700. #ynwa #redmen”
Gerrard is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season after the midfielder agreed a deal with Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy last month.
The Liverpool legend will play his final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Saturday.
