Brendan Rodgers appeared relaxed as the Liverpool squad trained ahead of their trip to Turkey on Thursday night.

The Reds were 1-0 winners against Besiktas in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 clash at Anfield last week.

Daniel Sturridge trained with his Liverpool team-mates after he started from the bench for Sunday’s 2-0 win against Southampton at St Mary’s.

However, Reds captain Steven Gerrard was a noticeable absentee as the 34-year-old midfielder continues to nurse a niggling hamstring problem.

Liverpool centre-half Mamadou Sakho is another doubt for the Merseyside outfit ahead of the journey to Turkey after he missed the trip to the Saints.

The 18-time English champions walked away as Champions League winners the last time they played at the Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadium.

The sides also met in the 2007/08 Champions League group stage, with Besiktas beating the Reds 2-1 in Istanbul before crashing 8-0 to Rafael Benítez’s men at Anfield.
