Manchester United’s squad had every reason to go back to basics after their disappointing 2-1 defeat by Swansea City on Saturday.

And that is exactly what many of the Red Devils did on Monday, as they went ‘back to school’ as part of an initiative for the Manchester United Foundation.

Summer signings Angel di Maria and Daley Blind were among the players to take part as Louis van Gaal’s squad digested their Premier League loss at the Liberty Stadium.

Blind posted the picture above of himself in the classroom and wrote: “Back to school! Had a fun day with the Manchester United Foundation. Wonder when the test results come in, pretty sure my team rocked it. #schoolsunited #MUFC”

Meanwhile, United goalkeeper David De Gea uploaded the photo montage below featuring himself and Di Maria playing table tennis and basketball with some students and wrote: “It was a pleasure returning to school to realize the great work that @manchesterunited Foundation does.”

January signing Victor Valdes also used the photo-sharing app to upload a picture from the event, adding: “Today I was with my bro Antonio Valencia visiting the guys of the Broadoak School. Was Fantastic !”

Saturday’s defeat left United fourth in the Premier League table. Their next game is a home clash with Sunderland on Saturday.
