Daniel Sturridge is all smiles as Liverpool gear up for their cup clash against Crystal Palace

Daniel Sturridge was in notably high spirits as Liverpool trained ahead of their FA Cup fifth-round clash at Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

The 25-year-old striker started his first Premier League game since August as Liverpool were 3-2 winners against top-four rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Tuesday.

Although the England international didn’t manage to get on the score sheet against the north London side, Sturridge did win a second-half penalty, which Steven Gerrard duly converted.

The Reds skipper was a noticeable absentee from training at Melwood on Thursday after the 34-year-old was forced off in the second half of their 3-2 win due to a hamstring injury.

Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling, meanwhile, is being monitored by the club’s medical staff ahead of their trip to Selhurst Park in the FA Cup.

Mario Balotelli could be set for a rare start after he scored his first Premier League goal for the Merseyside outfit against Tottenham, and the Italy international was also in action during the club’s training session.
