Paddy McNair has signed a new contract to keep the Manchester United defender at the club until the summer of 2017.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season under new manager Louis van Gaal this term and has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils.
His senior debut for United came during the 2-1 win over West Ham United back in September and he has featured against the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur this term.
The Northern Irish defender, who came through the ranks of the Red Devils’ academy system, expressed his delight at putting pen to paper on a new deal.
“To make my debut for this great club earlier this season was a dream come true,” McNair told United’s website.
“I’m pleased to have signed a new contract. I have come through the Academy here and I feel I am improving my game all the time with the help of the manager, the coaching staff and my team-mates.”
McNair’s new contract includes an option to extend for a further year.
Manchester United are currently fourth in the Premier League table heading into Wednesday’s clash with Burnley at Old Trafford.
Van Gaal’s men were held to a 1-1 draw in their last top-flight outing at West Ham United on Sunday.
