Photos: Sturridge, Lovren all smiles in Liverpool training session

Liverpool train ahead of their Europa League clash with Besiktas at Anfield on Thursday night

Daniel Sturridge looked in good spirits as Liverpool trained on Wednesday ahead of their Europa League clash with Besiktas at Anfield.

The Reds take on the Turkish side in the first leg of their last-32 tie in Europe’s second tier club competition as they look to continue their recent good form.

Sturridge, who has impressed in recent weeks following his return from injury, looked to be enjoying himself as Brendan Rodgers’ men were put through their paces at Melwood.

Dejan Lovren also looked in good spirits during the training session on Merseyside.

Liverpool are unbeaten in five home matches against Turkish sides but have not won in their last five European games.

Besiktas have already taken on English opponents this season, drawing 1-1 away and winning 1-0 at home against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League group stage.

Liverpool (1973, 1976 and 2001) are among 11 former Uefa Cup or Europa League winners in the round of 32.

Here are some of the best pictures from Wednesday’s training session.
