Rodgers delivers latest Liverpool injury update after Everton draw
Brendan Rodgers reveals that Liverpool will assess Lucas Leiva's adductor injury in the coming days
Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Liverpool will assess Lucas Leiva’s adductor injury in the wake of Saturday’s goalless draw at Everton.
The Brazilian midfielder was replaced by Joe Allen in the 17th minute at Goodison Park after he pulled up with the problem.
Speaking in his post-match news conference Reds boss Rodgers confirmed that the injury was a recurrence of the issue that had caused him to miss the FA Cup win over Bolton Wanderers in midweek.
And Rodgers revealed that the midfielder is set to undergo a scan to assess the seriousness of the injury.
“We’ll just have to assess it,” Rodgers told his post-match news conference on Saturday evening. “He had a slight problem with his adductor – that’s why he missed the last game [at Bolton].
“He felt it again there, so we’ll see what the scan says on that.”
Saturday’s goalless draw left Liverpool seventh in the Premier League table and four points behind fourth-placed Manchester United as the Reds look to secure a top-four finish this term.
Liverpool’s next game is a home clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Tuesday night.
