Samir Nasri: Chelsea won’t blow the title like Liverpool did

Samir Nasri is not expecting Chelsea to slip up in the race for the Premier League title

Samir Nasri has warned his Manchester City team-mates that they must up their game quickly if they are to have any hope of catching Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title.

The Citizens fell seven points behind Jose Mourinho’s leaders this weekend after being held to a 1-1 draw by Hull City on Saturday.

Chelsea, with no disrespect, are not Liverpool – who can drop points

Nasri, 27, believes that City can ill afford any more slip-ups if they are to have any hope of retaining their Premier League title this season.

And the French midfielder has told his team-mates that Chelsea are unlikely to blow their lead in the latter stages of the campaign, as Liverpool did last term.

Nasri is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “We have to wake up and do the job now before it’s too late. Chelsea, with no disrespect, are not Liverpool – who can drop points. They are really solid.

“We have to catch them as soon as possible if we want to be champions.

“But at the same time we have to look behind us. Southampton have won, United are getting close. We’ll see.”

City’s next game is a trip to Stoke City on Wednesday night, while Chelsea host Everton at Stamford Bridge on the same evening.

Third-placed Southampton are currently just four points behind Manuel Pellegrini’s men.
