Simon Mignolet: Liverpool squad have amazing team spirit
Simon Mignolet says the Liverpool players are fighting for each other
Simon Mignolet says there is an amazing team spirit running through the Liverpool camp after the Reds booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-final draw.
The Merseyside outfit came from a goal behind to seal a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in their fourth-round clash at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening.
We started the game slowly and went behind, but everybody showed a lot of character to fight back
The Reds have lost just one of their past 16 games in all competitions, helping Brendan Rodgers’ men to get their top-four bid back on track.
Liverpool goalkeeper Mignolet has kept three clean sheets in last four games, and the Belgium international revealed the Reds squad is brimming with confidence.
“[Team spirit] is amazing at the moment,” Mignolet told Liverpool’s website.
“Everybody is fighting for each other and doing their jobs individually. It’s always nice to get a victory as a team, that’s what you want.
“The spirit is high and we have to build on that and keep doing the things we’re doing at the moment. There’s another game and we have to look forward to that one.
“We started the game slowly and went behind, but everybody showed a lot of character to fight back and we got through to the next round.
“That’s what we wanted, that’s why we came here. We have to build on that. Everybody is pleased in the dressing room.
“If you compare the last time we came here and today’s game, we are very pleased with the victory and that we are still in the FA Cup.”
On Saturday, former Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell broke the deadlock in the 11th minute in south-east London after Dwight Gayle had caused panic in the Liverpool defence.
The Reds lost 3-1 at Selhurst Park in the Premier League earlier this season, but Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana turned the cup tie on its head to seal their progress.
