Six Nations 2015: Aaron Jarvis replaces Samson Lee in Wales side
Wales are forced to make another change ahead of their clash against Scotland at Murrayfield
Aaron Jarvis will replace Samson Lee as Wales are forced to make another change ahead of Sunday’s Six Nations Championship tie against Scotland at Murrayfield.
Prop forward Lee has not met the requirements of the IRB’s return to play protocol for concussion and head injuries and cannot be included in the match-day squad.
The news comes in the same week when the Welsh Rugby Union was heavily scrutinised for the handling of George North’s concussion incidents, who also sits out this weekend.
“Samson [Lee] has not completed the final component of the concussion test,” said assistant coach Rob Hawley as Wales’ press conference, “it’s obviously disappointing to lose a player of his ability.”
Jarvis’ place on the replacements bench has been filled by 25-year-old Scott Andrews, and Hawley hopes both players take this opportunity.
“We feel for Samson [Lee], as coaches do, but it’s important we move on and look forward to the opportunity it presents to both Scott [Andrews] and Aaron [Jarvis],” he said.
Both sides are aiming for their first win of the 2015 Championships, after Wales lost at home 21-16 to England while Scotland were beaten 15-8 in Paris by the French.
