Thirteen players have already returned to their respective clubs ahead of Round 15 of the Aviva Premiership this weekend.

But the starting XV from England’s 47-17 win over Italy last Saturday will train on Wednesday and Thursday before re-assembling on Monday 23 February in preparation for the clash with Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday 1 March.

“We have reviewed the Italy match this morning and, while we were pleased to score six tries and win by 30 points, we all know there is plenty to work on,” Lancaster said.

“We will release some players back to their clubs this evening as it will be a good opportunity for them to play for their clubs on a big Aviva Premiership weekend before we get together ahead of the Ireland match.”

Gloucester centre Billy Twelvetrees and Exeter Chiefs wing Jack Nowell are the two players joining the England XV in camp, while injured duo Manu Tuilagi (Leicester Tigers) and Joe Launchbury (Wasps) will continue their rehabilitation in Surrey this week.

Harlequins full-back Mike Brown (pictured), who went off with a head knock early in the first half against the Azzurri, remains in camp despite being unable to take part in training.

“Mike Brown is in in the early days of the graduated return-to-play protocol and will not be training this week,” Lancaster added.
