Van Gaal delivers latest Man United injury update ahead of Swansea clash
Robin van Persie and Phil Jones are both passed fit for Manchester United's trip to Swansea on Saturday
Robin van Persie and Phil Jones have been passed fit for Manchester United’s trip to Swansea City this weekend, Louis van Gaal has revealed.
Jones has been sidelined since the win over Burnley due to a knee injury but is back available after missing the FA Cup win over Preston on Monday.
Van Persie, who has scored 10 goals and made two assists in the Premier League this term, also missed the 3-1 win at Deepdale but is set to return to the side for Saturday’s trip to the Liberty Stadium.
However, midfielder Michael Carrick remains sidelined and is likely to return to full training next week.
Speaking at a news conference at United’s Carrington training base on Friday afternoon, Van Gaal told reporters: “They [Jones and van Persie] are fit to play.
“Only Carrick is still injured. “I think he shall train with the group next week. I expect that, but you never know. You’ll have to wait and see.”
The Red Devils are currently third in the Premier League table heading into Saturday’s game, and 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
United take on Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at Old Trafford on Monday 9 March.
