Van Gaal delivers latest Man United injury update after Preston win
Louis van Gaal says Robin van Persie will be fit for Manchester United's Premier League clash with Swansea
Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Robin van Persie will be back fit for Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Swansea City after the striker sat out Monday’s FA Cup win over Preston.
The Dutch forward was left out of the United squad due to injury as Van Gaal’s men secured a 3-1 win at Deepdale to book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
However, Van Gaal confirmed that Van Persie will be available for the Premier League trip to the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
Asked about Van Persie’s fitness after his side’s win over Preston, Van Gaal told his post-match news conference: “Yes, he [Van Persie] shall be fit.”
Phil Jones and Michael Carrick are United’s other two injured players.
Van Persie played the full 90 minutes and scored once as Manchester United beat Burnley 3-1 in their most recent Premier League outing.
He has scored 10 goals and made two assists in 23 Premier League games for the Red Devils so far this season.
Manchester United will take on Arsenal at Old Trafford for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.
