Watch Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud accept ‘hottest footballer’ award

Olivier Giroud has picked up one of the season's first awards...

Olivier Giroud has been voted the “hottest Premier League player” in a survey carried out by a well-known Irish bookmaker.

The Arsenal striker topped a poll of 250 American women, who were asked to rank 300 players from the English top flight.

The Frenchman came out on top and was on hand at Arsenal’s training ground to accept the award.

In his mock speech, he thanks his parents for “making him this way”, as well as acknowledging his barber, botox technician, make-up artist, tailor and his selfie assistant – Mathieu Debuchy.

Sunderland man Santiago Vergini was the runner-up to Giroud, while Leicester City’s Matty James came third in the poll.

Paddy Power’s research also produced a ‘Hot XI’, with Arsenal forward Giroud spearheading the attack.

Hot XI:

Ben Foster (Southampton), Santiago Vergini (Sunderland), Jason Shackell (Burnley), Erik Pieters (Stoke), Paul Konchesky (Leicester), Jesus Navas (Manchester City), Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton), Matty James (Leicester), Nacer Chadli (Tottenham), Charlie Austin (QPR), Olivier Giroud (Arsenal).
