Watch Jordan Henderson and Liverpool stars make late Oscar charge

Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling and Simon Mignolet star in new Nivia ad

The film award season is in full swing and Jordan Henderson along with Liverpool cronies Simon Mignolet and Raheem Sterling are making a late charge for an Oscar.

The short, 30-second film – an advert for club sponsor Nivea Men – showcases all of the midfielder’s talents, especially his often unseen acting abilities and comic timing.

More Keystone Cops than the Likely Lads, north east native Henderson takes on the role of the trio’s leader – perhaps a test of his future leadership skills.

The current Reds vice-captain is widely regarded to be the heir apparent to the Anfield captaincy crown – currently bestowed upon the maestro of Merseyside Steven Gerrard.

If Brendan Rodgers needed convincing about his next skipper, he should look no further than this clip.

The England midfielder carries the half-minute-long production on his shoulders – bearing semblance to the Hollywood-bound Gerrard, who has carried the club’s ambitions for the past decade.

Henderson shows initiative, another quality of a good leader, to utilise the stricken sky blue Robin Reliant to get to the glitzy award ceremony at the end of the piece.

However, one must wonder why their Liverpool team-mates, who had clearly been there at some point due to the red kit festooning the pegs in the changing room, left without them, opting to text them about their apparent tardiness.
