The midfielder has not featured for the Gunners since late November after suffering an ankle injury during the 2-1 defeat by Manchester United and undergoing surgery last year.
Wilshere returned to full training with the Gunners earlier this month but has yet to make his comeback for the north London side, despite being named on the bench for Saturday’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace.
Wenger revealed that he has opted to rest the England international for the first leg of Arsenal’s last-16 Champions League clash, but the Frenchman insisted that the midfielder has not suffered a setback in his return to fitness.
Wenger told a news conference at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Tuesday: “The only uncertainty I have at the moment is Wilshere. Everyone else is available.
“He was rested because he trained hard until now. “Tomorrow I don’t think [he will play], no.”
Asked if Wilshere would be fit for this weekend’s Premier League clash with Everton, Wenger added: “Certainly.”
