Arsenal legend reveals his admiration for Liverpool supporters
Thierry Henry was full of praise for Liverpool fans after playing at Anfield again on Sunday
Thierry Henry has hailed Liverpool’s “amazing” home support after playing at Anfield during Sunday’s All-Star charity match.
The Arsenal legend played eight times with Arsenal at Anfield and returned to Merseyside as part of the match in aid of The Liverpool Foundation at the weekend.
Henry, who hung up his playing boots last year and has since taken up a punditry role at Sky Sports, was able to soak in the special Anfield atmosphere once again as he featured in the 2-2 draw on Sunday.
And the former France international spoke in glowing terms of the Liverpool faithful after Sunday’s clash.
Henry, 37, told Liverpool’s website: “I’ve said so many times they [Liverpool fans] are amazing. When they are singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, it is just amazing.
“It was the first time that I could, and was allowed, to watch it and enjoy it and it is great. This crowd has won so many points for the team.
“What a day for Stevie G, what a day for Carra and what a day for the club. I was just happy to be a small part of it.”
Liverpool return to Premier League action when they travel to Henry’s former employers Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Arsenal are currently third in the top-flight table and six points ahead of Brendan Rodgers’ side heading into the final eight games of the season.
