Arsenal will pose the biggest challenge to Chelsea’s Premier League title bid in the final months of the season, Lee Hendrie has claimed.

The Gunners are the Premier League’s form side after a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday, keeping the north London side within a point of second-placed Manchester City.

Sanchez has been by far the best summer signing for his goals and his creativity in the Arsenal team

However, Arsene Wenger’s men have been touted as potential title contenders after Chelsea collected just eight points from their last four games, whilst City have lost twice this month.

Former Aston Villa midfielder Hendrie, who is part of Chillisauce’s Play With A Legend squad, reckons Arsenal are best-placed to catch Chelsea should Jose Mourinho’s side slip up.

Hendrie told The Sport Review: “If anyone [will challenge Chelsea] I feel it could be Arsenal because they’re right in the thick of it.

“But I just don’t see anyone catching Chelsea. It is down to three or four to go and get the runners-up for spot, which isn’t great for the clubs.”

Hendrie, who won the Intertoto Cup with Villa in 2001, has been impressed with Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez after the Chile international moved to The Emirates from Barcelona in a £35m deal last summer.

Sanchez has scored 13 goals in 27 Premier League games during his first campaign in England, and Hendrie, who made 251 top-flight appearances during his Villa career, spoke in glowing terms about the 26-year-old.

“I’ve got to say Alexis Sanchez has been fantastic,” Hendrie added.

“He has really, for such a big fee, he has come in and scored a lot of goals. He is exciting to watch and he has proven what a great signing he has been.

“Sanchez has been by far the best summer signing for his goals and his creativity in the Arsenal team.”
