Arsenal transfers: Theo Walcott should reject Liverpool, says John Hartson
Former Arsenal striker John Hartson wants Theo Walcott to reject Liverpool and sign new Gunners deal
Theo Walcott should reject Liverpool and sign a new deal with Arsenal, according to former Gunners striker John Hartson.
The England international is expected to enter into talks with the FA Cup holders in the coming weeks with his current deal set to expire at the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
Walcott has been linked with a potential move to Liverpool in recent weeks, prompting reports that the 26-year-old has fallen out with manager Arsene Wenger.
However, former Wales international Hartson believes Walcott owes the Frenchman his loyalty after Wenger stuck by the England striker throughout his injury woes.
“He is on big money at Arsenal and they have looked after him,” Hartson is quoted as saying Daily Express.
“When he was out for a long period injured, they looked after him and nurtured him back.
“I know there is not a lot of loyalty in football but sometimes it is nice when you see players give back to the club that have put them where they are.”
Walcott has made just four starts for the north London club in all competitions this season due to the knee injury which forced him to miss the second half of last season.
Nevertheless, the forward has still managed to score three goals in all competitions for the Gunners.
