Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas: I’m going through a great moment

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas speaks of his happiness on and off the pitch despite current form

Cesc Fabregas says he is going through a great moment in his career despite the Chelsea midfielder’s recent drop in form.

The Spain international has struggled to match his early-season performances in 2015 so far, prompting criticism of the £27m summer signing.

I am practically playing every minute for my team and that’s what makes me happy

World Cup winner Fabregas was an unused substitute in Spain’s 1-0 victory over Ukraine in their Euro 2016 qualifier on Friday night.

However, Fabregas reiterated that he is in a happy place both in his personal and professional life ahead of Spain’s clash against the Dutch on Tuesday night.

“I am going through a great moment, both personally and athletic. I have no reason not to be happy. I enjoy everything that happens to me,” Fabregas told Marca.

“I am practically playing every minute for my team and that’s what makes me happy. To be important is fundamental. Now we have to fight hard for the Premier League to end a great year.

Fabregas added: “I do not think I’ve lost my place in the team because I’ve never been undisputed, the important thing is the team and if the coach does not put you, it is because they are better.”

The former Arsenal captain scored two goals and made 13 assists in his first 16 games for the west London side in the Premier League.

However, the Chelsea star has failed to find the back of the net in his last eight Premier League games, whilst the 27-year-old has made just four assists in his last 407 minutes of top-flight football.
