Manchester United breathed life into their top-four bid after a resounding 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils broke the deadlock thanks to Marouane Fellaini’s opener before Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney sealed three points before half-time.

Here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order to United’s impressive win.

USA midfielder Stuart Holden (@stuholden) uses a clever pun as Carrick doubles United’s lead: “Carrick delivering the knockout punches for @ManUtd today”

Former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris (@morriskid) feels for Andros Townsend after the England winger was substituted inside 30 minutes: “Being hooked after half hour is not the one”

United legend Paul McGrath (@Paulmcgrath5) heaps praise on the Red Devils captain: “Rooney magic!”

Ex-Tottenham striker Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) continues the boxing theme as United ease to a comfortable win: “If this were a boxing match they’d have stopped it by now.”

Fiorentina defender Micah Richards (‏@MicahRichards) leaps to the defence of Kyle Walker after Dietmar Hamann criticised the Tottenham defender: “@DietmarHamann @ruudvanrashid give walker a break.. he’s been out injured how long! Clyne is the in form rb atm!”

Former United man Alan Tonge (@Alan_Tonge) isn’t use to all the positive talk surrounding his beloved Red Devils: “I can’t cope with all this positive feedback about Utd! Twitter is short circuiting!”

Finally, Stoke City striker Peter Crouch (@petercrouch) is a man who knows a thing or two about a good celebration: “Best celebration I’ve seen @WayneRooney!”Robot
