Former Man United star trolls Liverpool fans over Steven Gerrard ban
Former Manchester United man Alan Tonge winds up Liverpool fans on Twitter
Alan Tonge cleverly trolled Liverpool fans on Wednesday night after the former Manchester United man tweeted a link claiming that Steven Gerrard’s three-match ban had been overturned.
However, Tonge, who was forced to retire at the age of 24 due to serious back injury, had actually included a link of BBC Sport correspondent Matt Bevan’s match report on Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat by Chelsea last season.
The Anfield encounter, of course, proved a defining moment in the title race as Gerrard’s untimely slip allowed Demba Ba to race clear and finish past Reds goalkeeper Simon Mignolet on the stroke of half-time.
Brendan Rodgers’ side required just a point to maintain control of the title race, but Liverpool’s hopes of a 19th top-flight crown evaporated following their loss to Chelsea and a stalemate with Crystal Palace days later.
Tonge posted the following on Twitter:

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel controversially posted a photo of clowns on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon after the FA rejected his appeal against a violent conduct charge and banned the centre-half for three games for a stamp on David De Gea at the end of Sunday’s game.
