Jordan Henderson continued his goal-scoring run with a freak strike as Liverpool were 1-0 winners against Swansea City at Liberty Stadium.

The Reds vice-captain made the breakthrough midway through the second half after Swansea defender Jordi Amat’s clearance deflected off the midfielder and past his own goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Liverpool moved to within two points of fourth-placed Manchester United thanks to their victory, and here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order to Monday night’s game.

Former Red Devil Alan Tonge (@Alan_Tonge) is understandably frustrated with the home side’s lack of a ruthlessness in front of goal: “Swansea are letting Liverpool off the hook here.”

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler (@Robbie9Fowler) is disappointed with the first-half performance from the Reds in Wales: “Probably the sloppiest half of football I’ve seen for a long long time from Liverpool”

Ex-Liverpool winger Ryan Babel (@Ryanbabel) doesn’t care about the fortunate nature of the Reds’ winner: “Get innnnn….”

Republic of Ireland striker Clinton Morrison (@morrisonclinton) wants some fluke finishing lessons from the Liverpool vice-captain: “Jordan Henderson please show me how to do that when it’s going for you it’s going for you I need one of them lol”

Reds legend John Aldridge (@Realaldo474) is a happy chappy after a clean sweep of wins for his former sides: “Great win!!!!!love it when one goes in off the arse!!much better 2nd half, and Real sociadad won as well.”

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann (@DietmarHamann) praises two Reds players after an edgy win: “Well needed 3 points for LFC after this weekends results.Mignolet and Skrtel keeping things together. Can’t wait for Sunday. Will be electric”

Retired Palace forward Mark Bright (@Mark__Bright) isn’t overawed by the Liverpool manager’s tactical brilliance: “Nothing new about what Brendon Rodgers did, if you’re struggling against your opponents, play the same system and match them up. #lfc #swans”

Champions League winner Neil Mellor (@NeilMellor33) runs the rule over his former side’s performance: “Wasn’t an impressive display tonight from Liverpool but most importantly it was the 3points and maintains superb form in battle for top4… Another clean sheet away in the Premier League to make that 6 in a row. A very Impressive resilience about Liverpool defensively now.”

Spurs legend Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) reckons the Reds express could be unstoppable: “Liverpool have really grasped that winning habit.”
