Jamie Carragher criticised Chelsea for their “disgraceful” behaviour as Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sent off during their Champions League exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

A host of Blues players crowded around the referee after the Swede’s hefty challenge on Oscar in the first half of the last-16 second-leg tie at Stamford Bridge.

Ibrahimovic was shown a straight red card, forcing the Ligue 1 side to play most of the game with 10 men.

However, Laurent Blanc’s side triumphed after extra-time, as Thiago Silva’s header sent PSG through on away goals after a 2-2 draw on the night.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Carragher was less than impressed by the conduct of Jose Mourinho’s squad during the red card incident.

“The reaction from the Chelsea players is disgraceful,” said Carragher.

“It’s something that is sad that is coming into the game. It comes from I think Jose Mourinho’s teams, they have this reaction, it’s not a one off.”

The Liverpool legend also claimed that the Chelsea players’ reaction played a part in the referee’s decision to dismiss Ibrahimovic.

“I always think with Mourinho’s teams that they will always be respected but they’ll never be loved because of situations like this,” he added.

“They take winning to another level that no other team or manager does that I’ve seen over the years. We all want to win but the reaction of the Chelsea players has definitely played a part.”

Chelsea will look to return to winning ways when they host Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
