Liverpool transfers: Mateo Kovacic won’t be moving to Anfield, says agent
Mateo Kovacic's agent rules out the Inter Milan star joining Liverpool in the summer transfer window
Mateo Kovacic won’t be swapping Inter Milan for Liverpool in the summer transfer window, the player’s agent has insisted.
The 20-year-old has been heavily touted with a potential big-money switch away from the San Siro with Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool thought to be chasing the midfielder.
The Croatia international has scored a respectable five goals and has made one assist in 25 Serie A appearances this season, racking up an impressive 1,856 minutes of top-flight action.
And Kovacic’s agent Nikky Vuksan was keen to stress that the promising Inter midfielder isn’t in negotiations with Liverpool over a potential switch to Anfield at the end of the season.
“It is not going to happen. Mateo extended his contract with Inter in January,” Vuksan told Vecernji list.
“Could it be that clubs are negotiating? No, that is not possible without Mateo and me knowing about it.”
Kovacic, who has scored 11 goals in 113 appearances in the Italian top flight, has been a mainstay of Roberto Mancini’s side this season.
The highly-rated midfielder has already become an established member of Slaven Bilic’s Croatia squad, earning a place in the manager’s World Cup squad for the tournament in Brazil last summer.
