Simon Mignolet has warned Liverpool not to get carried away ahead of the visit of Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds can hoist themselves above the Red Devils and into fourth place if Brendan Rodgers’ side emerge as winners at Anfield.

Liverpool are unbeaten in 13 Premier League games after a 1-0 victory over Swansea City at Liberty Stadium on Monday night.

Belgium international Mignolet urged Liverpool to view the clash against their bitter rivals as just another three points in the race for a top-four finish.

Mignolet told Liverpool’s website: “We know there will be a huge build up, but as professional football players we can’t get carried away. We have to focus on our jobs, because as a game it is three points to win or to lose.

“If we are going to make more of it than it is we might get flustered or carried away with things, so we have to address it in a professional manner and make sure we focus on our job, rather than what the opponent does or how big a game it is.”

Liverpool have beaten Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur during their impressive 13-game unbeaten run in the English top-flight.

The Reds are looking to qualify for the Champions League in successive season for the first time since 2009.
