Manchester City

Joe Hart Had absolutely nothing to do apart from dealing with the occasional set-piece. The easiest game he will have all season. 5/10

Pablo Zabaleta Played almost as a winger and his link-up play with Navas was excellent on the right-hand side. One of the best right-backs in the league when he performs like this. 7

Vincent Kompany Like a deep-lying playmaker at times because he had nothing to do defensively. Very astute in possession finishing with an 89 per cent pass completion. 7

Eliaquim Mangala West Brom barely offered any attacking threat so it was a comfortable game for the French defender. Was beaten in the air by Olsson which nearly led to a goal though. 6

Gael Clichy Always good going forward and demonstrated that once again putting in a number of decent crosses. 7

Jesus Navas Has been criticised plenty of times this season for a lack of an end-product but was fantastic in this game. Stung the palms of the keeper with a ferocious effort in the second-half, and his crosses also set-up good chances for Aguero and Silva who should have scored. 8

Fernando Strong and powerful in the centre of the park, but also showed how good he can be in possession of the ball keeping things ticking along for City who dominated the ball. His goal was fortuitous, but he was in the right place to stab the ball home. 8

Frank Lampard A rare start for Lampard and he had an influential game. Although he wasn’t ruthless enough in front of goal and most of his shots were tame, and easily saved. 6

David Silva (Man of the match) Orchestrated everything picking up pockets of space all over the pitch. His goal was well-taken as he diverted a powerful Jovetic effort into the back of the net. 9

Wilfried Bony His best performance for City. Was a major threat throughout the game and scored a great goal after taking the ball down, and rifling it into the top-corner. Also hit the bar mid-way through the second-half with a scuffed effort. Could have had a hat-trick on another day. 8

Sergio Aguero Was unable to get on the score-sheet but was a nuisance throughout the game. Made quite a few runs out wide which opened up the space for other players, and hit a beautiful curling shot which hit the base of the post. 8

Stevan Jovetic Good impact from the Montenegrin and he nearly scored with a vicious curling effort that only went narrowly passed the post. 6

Boaz Myhill Made some brilliant saves from Aguero, Silva and Navas. Possibly could have done better with Fernando’s goal as he parried it into the Brazilian’s path, but he did most things well in this game. 7

Craig Dawson Was very fortunate to not receive a red-card after mistaken identity. Never fully recovered and was given a torrid time by Aguero and Silva’s movement. 3

Gareth McAuley For some reason Neil Swarbrick decided to send off McAuley when it was Dawson who made a last-ditch challenge on Bony. Seems like a case of mistaken-identity. 4

Joleon Lescott Faired slightly better than Dawson and made one outstanding challenge from Aguero when he looked to be through on goal. 5

Jonas Olsson Normally a centre-back by trade and made a few errors as a result which were costly. Had a nightmare clearing from a corner and this led to Fernando’s goal. 4

Stephane Sessegnon Tried to make things happen when in possession of the ball but lacked any kind of support. Won a few free-kicks to give some respite to West Brom’s defence. 6

Darren Fletcher Fought hard but West Brom were completely over-run in midfield. His lack of pace was exposed at times as well as his positioning, Silva kept ghosting into positions behind him and he couldn’t get anywhere near him throughout the game. 5

Chris Baird A defender playing in midfield. Was put in there to pressurise City with his tackling ability but the game-plan went out of the window within the first two minutes of the game. After that he was chasing shadows. 4

Craig Gardener Played out wide but spent most of the game as an auxiliary left-back. Worked tirelessly but West Brom never looked like taking anything out of the game. 5

James Morrison Decent performance from the midfielder. Tried to keep hold of the ball when he had it and tackled with passion. Refused to give-up despite the odds being against his side. 6

Saido Berahino His strength is not holding the ball up but that is what he was forced to do after West Brom went down to ten-men. Should have scored when his header hit the bar from point-blank range. 5
