Jamie Carragher has risked the wrath of Manchester United fans after the Liverpool legend described a potential Real Madrid move for David De Gea as a “no brainer”.

The Spain international is yet to put pen to paper on a lucrative new contract despite the shot stopper having less than 18 months remaining on his current United deal.

De Gea has been heavily linked with Champions League holders Real Madrid in recent months amid reports Los Blancos want the United man to replace Spain captain Iker Casillas.

The Madrid legend conceded four goals as Los Blancos edged into the Champions League quarter-finals despite a 4-3 defeat at The Bernabeu on Tuesday night, and it prompted Carragher to take to Twitter.

The United number one was unable to prevent the Red Devils crashing out at the FA Cup quarter-final stage on Monday after a 2-1 loss to bitter rivals Arsenal.

De Gea won the Premier League title in 2013 after the goalkeeper joined United in a £18m deal from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
