Man United transfers: Mats Hummels drops Premier League hint
Manchester United target Mats Hummels says that he is open to leaving Borussia Dortmund
Mats Hummels has fuelled the speculation linking him with a summer transfer to Manchester United by revealing that he is planning to leave Borussia Dortmund in the future.
The Germany international has long been touted as a target for the Red Devils and was linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer as Louis van Gaal looks to shore up his defence.
United are reported to be preparing a summer bid for the centre-half, who joined Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich back in 2009.
Moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well being
And the Red Devils’ pursuit of the defender appears to have been given a boost after Hummels declared his intention to leave Dortmund at some point in his career.
“Basically, I think moving abroad will be good for my professional and personal well being,” Hummels said in an interview with Kicker.
“Eventually, I’d like to leave the Bundesliga.
“I’m being open about this because I’m not a fan of those who claim they are staying but, behind the scenes, have actually secretly agreed a transfer away from their current club.”
Hummels has scored one goal in 17 Bundesliga games for Jurgen Klopp’s Dortmund team so far this season.
Van Gaal’s United side return to Premier League action against Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford.
