Man United transfers: Real Madrid star talks up Red Devils move
Fabio Coentrao admits that he would be honoured to play for Manchester United
Fabio Coentrao has fuelled the speculation linking him with a transfer to Manchester United by admitting that he would be “honoured” to play for the Red Devils.
The Portugal international has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with both Chelsea and Arsenal touted as possible destinations for the full-back.
It’s one of the best clubs in the world
The 27-year-old was also linked with a move to Old Trafford during David Moyes’ reign in charge of United.
Now, the defender has spoken of his admiration for Louis van Gaal’s side ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Portuguese sport newspaper O Jogo, Coentrao said: “I already showed that interest in playing there [at Manchester United]
“It’s one of the best clubs in the world, a club that I admire a lot. It would be an honour to play there.”
Coentrao has found his first-team opportunities at the Bernabeu limited this season. He has been restricted to just three La Liga starts for Carlo Ancelotti’s men and has only made a further four substitute appearances.
He scored Portugal’s winner as they beat Serbia 2-1 in their Euro 2016 qualifying clash on Sunday evening.
