Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal after the midfielder indicated that he is planning to stay at Juventus beyond the summer.

United were heavily linked with a swoop for Vidal last summer following Louis van Gaal’s appointment at Old Trafford but a move failed to materialise as the Red Devils signed Daley Blind and Ander Herrera.

Vidal’s future has been a source of speculation again in recent weeks, and recent media reports have claimed that the Old Trafford club are still considering a summer move for the Chile international.

However, the 27-year-old concedes that he finds it hard to envisage leaving Juventus, adding that he feels completely at home in Turin.

Vidal is quoted as saying by Metro: “It is hard to think about leaving Juventus when you have been crowned champions and you are part of a great team.

“For any player, the most important thing is to win trophies and to become part of the club’s history.

“The people in Turin love me, I am feeling very well here and my family is feeling right at home.

“Why should I have any desire to leave? I am feeling extremely well at Juventus.”

Vidal has been a regular fixture in Juventus’ first-team this season, scoring six goals and making two assists in 21 Serie A appearances to help them top the Italian league table.
